Process

Through my prior experience as a full time piano instructor, I learned that children learn best when they are having fun. I have found that children are more likely to make gains when they are relaxed, enjoying themselves, and motivated to play. Regardless of the communication challenge we are working on, my first goal is to achieve a positive rapport, to identify what motivates a child, and to insert our intervention into an activity. In addition, it is essential for parents and other family members to learn how to continue structured activities in between sessions to ensure treatment continuity and improved outcomes.
